This is a condition where the eyes are not properly aligned. It typically occurs in children, but affects some adults as well. The misalignment may be horizontal, vertical or torsional. Treatments include eyeglasses, patching, vision therapy/eye exercises, prism therapy, and if non-invasive therapy fails, corrective eye muscle surgery. This highly successful procedure is performed in a hospital under general anesthesia. The Pediatric Ophthalmologist at Rockland Eye Physicians is experienced in the treatment of Strabismus in both children and adults.
