Dr. Patel is a Rockland County native, growing up in Chestnut Ridge. She graduated from Binghamton University with a Dual Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and Economics. She was a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda honor society and completed the college honors program. Dr. Patel completed her optometric education at the SUNY College of Optometry in New York City. Her additional training includes externships at SUNY Optometry's Manhattan-based ocular disease eye clinic and the VA Connecticut Healthcare Clinic at West Haven. She is trained not only in primary care exams for glasses and contacts, but also specializes in ocular disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, cataracts, and dry eye syndrome.
Dr. Patel is actively involved in volunteer services such as the Special Olympics, where she screens and provides eye exams to participating athletes. She has also been on mission trips to Haiti and Peru to provide eye care to rural and mountainous regions alongside medical/optometry students and fellow optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Dr. Patel is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA).
Aside from patient care, Dr. Patel likes spending time with her friends and family, traveling to different countries, and trying new baking recipes she finds online
